TO THE HIGH DUNES OF MERZOUGA

  1. Early escape the busy streets of Marrakech’s Medina for a striking 3 day desert tour to admire the natural beauty of the Merzouga desert sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will head towards the Atlas Mountains, passing by Berber villages while crossing the Tizi N’ Tichka pass. Stop at Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, UNESCO World Heritage, a historic meeting place and trading site. There will still be time to appreciate the oasis at Skoura before spending the night in Boumalne Dades

  2. On the next day we will travel along the “Road of 1,000 Kasbahs” to the Todra Gorge spectacular tall cliffs and gigantic rock formations flank the trickling river that runs through it. Later in the afternoon we will be stopping at the sacred city of Rissani. Then climb up a dromedary for an unforgettable ride in the late afternoon sun towards Erg Chebbi. Spend the evening enjoying dinner and serenades of traditional music from local nomads under the stars. Evening camping in the desert.

  3. On day three very early in the morning we have a “Date with the sunrise”. In the middle of the desert, waking up early is a “must do” to contemplate the most spectacular sunrise you´ve ever seen at the top of a dune close to the camp.  Then we will hop on the dromedary back to Merzouga, and then return Marrakech.

3 days: 

MARRAKECH-MERZOUGA-FEZ

  1. When you leave Marrakech, we will be amazed with the Tizi N’ Tichka pass, one of world’s most spectacular road, from where will enjoy stunning views of the high Atlas and surrounding landscapes. We will pass by berber villages on our way to Ouarzazate, to the beautiful Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, word heritage site famous for being also the set of many movies. As we make our way to Dades valley, where we will spend the night, we will pass through the Taourit kasbah, one of the most remarkable ksars in Morocco as well as the marvellous and impressive Skoura palm grove and the beautiful Rose Valley with its damascenes roses.

  2. After breakfast we leave the hotel towards strategic lookout points to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Dades valley, and its exquisite kasbahs. We will make some stops on the way to Todra Gorges, spectacular tall cliffs and gigantic rock formations flank the trickling river that runs through it. After a short walk it will soon be time for time at leisure to recuperate from all the excitement. Next stop will be the spectacular dunes of Merzouga, where we will start a dromedary sunset ride towards the camping site conveniently set up under the starry sky. Evening camping in the desert.

  3. Contemplate the most stunning sunrise you´ve ever seen and return to Merzouga by dromedary. We start our last day to the north through the Tafilalt oasis, the biggest in the world, leading us to Ziz valley. Enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and the town of Aoufous. We make another stop in Midelt, just in the heart of the Atlas. In the afternoon we continue our way through the Cedar Woods where, if we are lucky, we´ll see some monkeys. The next place we´ll visit is the unique city of Ifrane. Its broad avenues, its urban development with perfect cleanness, the gardens, the green areas and its architecture make this city look like a swiss town. Arrive at Fez in the late afternoon.

4 days: 

MARRAKECH - SAHAARA - FEZ

4 days discovering the highlights of Morocco, ending in Fez.  

  1. We will start early morning from Marrakech and travel through the High Atlas by the amazing Tizi N’ Tichka towards Ait Ben Haddou, Word Heritage site. In Ouarzazate, known as the doors of the desert, and famous for its film studios, we´ll see the Taourit kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. Next, we will visit the Rose Valley famous for its damascenes roses. Our day will end at the Dades valley where we’ll spend the night.

  2. Our second day will be dedicated to the Dades Valley the “land of a thousand Kasbahs”. The most impressive kasbahs are found in Skoura, a fertile oasis lined with palm groves with sweeping views of the Atlas Mountains. The area’s natural beauty is a real highlight: carved through the walls of the High Atlas Mountains by the Dades River, stands the Todra Gorge. It is best seen on foot to admire the towering pink cliffs tinted with greens and golds that stretch above us. Then we continue to the desert: the spectacular dunes of Merzouga – Erg Chebbi. Once we arrive in Merzouga its time to hop on a dromedary and head towards the sun set. A delicious dinner will be served at the nomad tents where you will spend the night. Evening camping in the desert.

  3. On our third day we will invite you to enjoy one of nature’s most precious gifts: sunrise in the Moroccan desert. We will then ride the dromedary back to Merzouga for a delicious breakfast. By the road that was formerly used by the “Paris – Dakar” we will reach the Tissardmine oasis, where we can find fossil quarries. We will meet nomads and learn their secrets and manners, just before we stop at a viewpoint to contemplate the hole Erg Chebbi. The last stop before we arrive at hotel will be at Khamlia Village, where we´ll take a relaxing cup of tea and listen to a concert of the spiritual music of Gnawa.

  4. We start our last day to the north through the Tafilalt oasis, the biggest in the world, leading us to Ziz valley. Enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and the town of Aoufous. A 4 day complete tour covering the highlights and musts of Morocco, starting and ending at vibrant Marrakech.

We will make a stop at the Telouat Kasbah which arguably boasts some of the best Islamic architecture in Morocco. Continuing our journey by the Ounila valley, we will see small berber villages and families that live in adobe houses lost in the mountains. Just before we arrive at the hotel in Ouarzazate, there will still be time to see to the fortified village Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  2. After breakfast, we make our way through the Draa valley, stopping to take pictures and enjoy the view of the spectacular kasbahs and berber villages that dot the road. We will continue our way to the desert towards the spectacular dunes of Merzouga – Erg Chebbi, where we will climb up on the back of a dromedary for an unforgettable sun set ride. Evening camping in the desert.

One hour later we´ll reach one of the best places of the High Atlas, the impressive Todra Gorges where we will make a track on foot to take in the amazingness of the canyon. There will still be a photo stop at the “monkeys toes” formation in the Dadés valley, also known as the figs valley, before arriving to Dades gorges, where we will spend the night.

  4. In the morning we leave Dades Valley the “land of a thousand Kasbahs”, and pass by beautiful Skoura oasis and Rose Valley famous for its damascenes roses. We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the doors of the desert, and famous for its film studios. Here we´ll see the Taourit kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco.   1. Pick-up at Marrakech airport and transfer to the Riad, in the Medina, the historical centre of Marrakech. Time at leisure so you can explore the vibrant Marrakech Medina area. In the evening you must go for a stroll around Djemaa El Fna and see this lively square full of narrators, jugglers, diviners. snake charmers, dancers, tooth removers and so on. Overnight in the Riad.

For this day we have a private guided tour of Marrakech with an official guide that will show you all Marrakech’s secrets: famous Koutoubia mosque, the city’s most conspicuous landmark;  the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 16th century of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansu; the 19th-century Bahia Palace, built in 7 years by 1,000 craftsmen from Fez; the beautiful Majorelle gardens, known for its cobalt-blue features and series of mini landscapes that take you on a sensory journey. We will visit the souks in medina including famous place called Djemaa El-Fna Square. You will be delighted by local dancers, snake charmers and singers. In the evening free time to practice your haggling art in the souk or discover hidden places at the Medina. Overnight in Marrakech.

  8. Time at leisure until transfer time to the airport. We’ll help you with your luggage and show you the boarding door at the airport.

  6. Our 6th day will be dedicated to Fez, one of the most enchanting and enriching in the cities of Morocco. A private guided tour with an official guide will ensure that you see the best of this city, where historic sites abound. We will pass by Moulay Idriss mausoleum considered as many as the holiest Islamic site in Morocco; the famous Nejjarine fountain, a true "altar to water" in a pretty setting with zellige tiles; the colourful tanneries composed of numerous stone vessels filled with a vast range of dyes and various liquids spread out like a tray of watercolours. Not to miss is also the exterior of Fez' Royal Palace, or the Dar el Makhzen with its dazzling seven giant, bronze doors with arched doorways framed by shimmering tiles and carved cedar-wood detailing; there will still be time to walk around the Medina (Fez el-Bali), the city’s biggest draw. The old medina is now a protected UNESCO World Heritage site, being one of its most notably gates the Bab Boujeloud, famous for its striking blue tilework. Additional highlights of Fez el-Bali include the Kairaouine Mosque University, known as the world’s oldest university and dating back to 859 and the Mellah Jewish Quarter. Overninght in Fez.

  7. Depart to Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains. Visit the wonderful city of Ifrane and explore the traditional mountain architecture. AIT BEN HADDOU, OUARZAZATE, HIGH ATLAS

Early departure towards Ouarzazate via the High Atlas, appreciating its natural beauty and stunning landscapes. The Tizi N’ Tichka will surprise you at every turn, with amazing views. 

Passing by Berber villages we will make our way to at Aït Ben Haddou kasbah, UNESCO World Heritage, a historic meeting place and trading site and a famous film-making location. Famous films such as Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz…etc. were shot here.

Lunch and time at leisure will allow you to explore the area at your own pace and delicious gastronomy.

In Ouarzazate visit of the Atlas Studios; the most important cinema studios in Morocco. Very well-known films have been made there by international movie producers such as: Asterix and Cleopatra, Star Wars, The Mummy, Gladiator.

Last for not least we will make a stop at the Telouat Kasbah which arguably boasts some of the best Islamic architecture in Morocco.

Full Day: 

OURIKA VALLEY AND HIGH ATLAS

Early departure to discover the Ourika valley, one of the most exotic areas of the region.
Located in the High Atlas, at only 60 km south from Marrakech it offers beautiful landscapes. Named after the river that goes through in, our trip to this amazing valley includes a stop in the authentic berber market of Asni where families of the valley take care of their daily groceries. Then we continue to visit an authentic berber family where we will see their house, how they live and learn to prepare a delicious mint tea as a true Berber does.
After having tea we continue our trip to Setti Fatma. This quaint town lies on the banks of the river which flows down from the peaks of Mount Toubkal. Colourful chairs and tables of restaurants garnish the stream with tagine and mint tea. It's a Moroccan village known for its seven waterfalls working has a genuine ”Berber fridge” where bottles are stacked on top of each other and refreshed by the streams of water dropping. This village still has the charm of a small town and preserves the adobe houses and a peaceful life.

Return to Marrakech.

Full Day: 

​OUZOUD WATERFALLS

Early departure to Ouzoud waterfalls.

Located 160 km from Marrakech and close to Azilal, we find one of the most interesting geological sites of the Middle Atlas. This stunning, 360-foot (110-meter) waterfalls, are the highest natural waterfalls in north Africa one of the most spectacular all over Africa.

We invite you to witness the tiered cascades tumble from different heights down into a natural amphitheatre of red-coloured rock cliffs. Absorb the roar of the cascades as you take photos, and if we are lucky, see some of the Barbary apes that mingle by the water or one of the shimmering rainbows that form in the mists wreathed around the plunging waters. In summer time you may enjoy swimming in the charming waters of Oued Ouzoud. We´ll visit the traditional ancient water mills that used to grind wheat grain into flour — giving the falls their name.

Lunch and time at leisure will allow you to explore the area at your own pace and delicious gastronomy with an amazing view.

In the afternoon, arrival back at Marrakech.

essaouira

Full Day: 

ESSAOUIRA

Early depart towards Essaouira, UNESCO World Heritage listed city, a late 18th-century fortified town which its greatest charm lies in the fact that it has keep the authenticity of a land lost in time. The ocean and the desert merge in Essaouira. 

After 3 hours driving we´ll get to Mogador harbour, built by the Portuguese in a narrow peninsula, just by a broad sandy beach. Essaouira is known for its fishing port (especially sardines) and his beautiful blue boats, as well as the Medina and its walls.

Time at leisure to enjoy at your own pace its Medina, visit the harbour and enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants of the fishing port.

On the way back to Marrakech we make a stop at the women cooperative to see a demonstration of the production of the Argan oil. This unique and rich oil, exclusively produced in Morocco has several purposes depending on how its produced:  it is used to dip bread or to drizzle on couscous or used for cosmetic purposes – which has been a real demand nowadays.

In the afternoon, arrival back at Marrakech.
