TO THE SMALL DESERT OF ZAGORA
Enjoy an authentic and complete desert adventure with romedaries, Berber villages and UNESCO World Heritage sites, during this 2-day trip from Marrakech to Zagora.
You will get off the beaten track in Morocco and discover its stark deserts, unique local culture and fascinating historical sites, experience a dromedary ride and spend the night in the Zagora Desert under the stars. In the tranquil Drâa Valley, your will meet rural Berber villagers and learn how about their lives and ancient traditions. You will also have the opportunity to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou and spend some time at Ouarzazate a famous film-making location.

3 days:
FEZ - MERZOUGA DESERT - MARRAKECH

Early depart from Fez and go through the Atlas Mountains to visit the wonderful city of Ifrane and explore the traditional mountain architecture. Its broad avenues, its urban development with perfect cleanness, the gardens, the green areas and its architecture make this city look like a swiss town. We will continue our way through the Cedar Woods where, it’s possible to see some monkeys. Later we will make a stop in Midelt, just in the heart of the Atlas, and in the afternoon we will head through the Tafilalt oasis, the biggest in the world, which leads us to Ziz valley. Enjoy a magnificent view of the valley, while we cross the town of Erfoud, takings us to the spectacular dunes of Merzouga – Erg Chebbi, where we will climb up on the back of a dromedary for an unforgettable sun set ride. Evening camping in the desert.

On our 2nd day we will invite you to enjoy one of nature’s most precious gifts: sun rise in the Moroccan desert. We will then ride the dromedary back to Merzouga for a delicious breakfast. Then we will visit the authentic Rissani Market (market days: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday). This effervescent souk is the largest in the area, packed with locals, and truly engaging with a world of Moroccan products, smells, colours and tastes. Also very curious its the donkeys parking area - you have never seen so many donkeys! We will then move towards continue then to Erfoud where we can visit the manufactures of fossilized marble. One hour later we´ll reach one of the best places of the High Atlas, the impressive Todra Gorges where we will make a track on foot to take in the amazingness of the canyon. There will still be a photo stop at the “monkeys toes” formation in the Dades valley, also known as the figs valley, before arriving to Dades gorges, where we will spend the night.

In the morning we leave Dades Valley the “land of a thousand Kasbahs”, and pass by beautiful Skoura oasis and Rose Valley famous for its damascenes roses. We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the doors of the desert, and famous for its film studios. Here we´ll see the Taourit kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. We will also stop at the fortified village Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO World Heritage Site, where many renowned movies were filmed. We then travel through the High Atlas by the amazing Tizi N’ Tihka towards Marrakech where we will end the journey.






3 days:
FEZ - PALM GROVES - SAHAARA - FEZ

The last stop before we arrive at hotel will be at Khamlia Village, where we´ll take a relaxing cup of tea and listen to a concert of the spiritual music of Gnawa.

We start our last day to the north through the Tafilalt oasis, the biggest in the world, leading us to Ziz valley. Enjoy a magnificent view of the valley and the town of Aoufous. We make another stop in Midelt, just in the heart of the Atlas. In the afternoon we continue our way through the Cedar Woods where, if we are lucky, we´ll see some monkeys. The next place we´ll visit is the unique city of Ifrane. Its broad avenues, its urban development with perfect cleanness, the gardens, the green areas and its architecture make this city look like a swiss town. Arrive at Fez in the late afternoon.


4 days:

This effervescent souk is the largest in the area, packed with locals, and truly engaging with a world of Moroccan products, smells, colours and tastes. Also very curious it’s the donkeys parking area - you have never seen so many donkeys! Later on we will continue our way to the desert towards the spectacular dunes of Merzouga – Erg Chebbi, where we will climb up on the back of a dromedary for an unforgettable sun set ride. Evening camping in the desert.

10 days:
FEZ AND AUTHENTIC MOROCCO

Pick-up at Fez airport and transfer to your accommodation.

This day will be dedicated to Fez, one of the most enchanting and enriching in the cities of Morocco. A private guided tour with an official guide will ensure that you see the best of this city, where historic sites abound. We will pass by Moulay Idriss mausoleum considered as many as the holiest Islamic site in Morocco; the famous Nejjarine fountain, a true "altar to water" in a pretty setting with zellige tiles; the colourful tanneries composed of numerous stone vessels filled with a vast range of dyes and various liquids spread out like a tray of watercolours. Not to miss is also the exterior of Fez' Royal Palace, or the Dar el Makhzen with its dazzling seven giant, bronze doors with arched doorways framed by shimmering tiles and carved cedar-wood detailing; there will still be time to walk around the Medina (Fez el-Bali), the city’s biggest draw. The old medina is now a protected UNESCO World Heritage site, being one of its most notably gates the Bab Boujeloud, famous for its striking blue tilework. Additional highlights of Fez el-Bali include the Kairaouine Mosque University, known as the world’s oldest university and dating back to 859 and the Mellah Jewish Quarter. We suggest time to visit the cooperative of pottery where Moroccan mosaics are made. If you are up to, you may go for a traditional and lively dinner with entertainment by belly dancers. Early depart towards Essaouira, UNESCO World Heritage listed city, a late 18th-century fortified town which its greatest charm lies in the fact that it has keep the authenticity of a land lost in time. The ocean and the desert merge in Essaouira. After 3 hours driving we´ll get to Mogador harbour, built by the Portuguese in a narrow peninsula, just by a broad sandy beach. Essaouira is known for its fishing port (especially sardines) and his beautiful blue boats, as well as the Medina and its walls. Time at leisure to enjoy at your own pace its Medina, visit the harbour and enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the restaurants of the fishing port. On the way back to Marrakech we make a stop at the women cooperative to see a demonstration of the production of the Argan oil. This unique and rich oil, exclusively produced in Morocco has several purposes depending on how its produced: it is used to dip bread or to drizzle on couscous or used for cosmetic purposes – which has been a real demand nowadays. In the afternoon, arrival back at Marrakech.

Morning will be at leisure to allow you to explore Marrakech historical sites: famous Koutoubia mosque, the city’s most conspicuous landmark; the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the 16th century of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansu; the 19th-century Bahia Palace, built in 7 years by 1,000 craftsmen from Fez; the souks in medina including famous place called Djemaa El-Fna Square. You will be delighted by local dancers, snake charmers and singers. We will meet you here in th afternoon for a guided tour of the beautiful Majorelle gardens, known for its cobalt-blue features and series of mini landscapes that take you on a sensory journey. We will also have a short tour at Gueliz -the new city of Marrakech. In the evening free time to practice your haggling art in the souk or discover hidden places at the Medina. Overnight in Marrakech.
